Lambert Home Grand Opening Recap
On April 17th, we had one of the most special days of my life: The Grand Opening of LHHQ!!!!
It truly felt as celebratory as my wedding day!!! We spent weeks (months! years!) planning for this event and it was amazing to see it all come together. If you were there with us, or celebrating from afar, keep reading to relive the day with me!
Party Prep
We arrived that morning at about 7:30 AM to start preparing. We unloaded trailers filled with tables, tents, umbrellas, etc. Boy, did we get our steps in!! And then, at about 8:30 AM, UpUpBalloons arrived to install the most joyful, colorful, gorgeous balloons! There’s just nothing like seeing a party come together - as the colorful tables start setting up, the balloons are hung, the are opened - there’s this sense of joyful anticipation that simply can’t be beat!
And then Mo, the white buffalo, arrived and literally there was squealing all over the yard and everyone was skipping towards the trailer!! (If you didn’t get to attend the celebration, Plains Capital Bank brought their white buffalo, “Mo!” What a joy!)
Now, if you’re thinking we stopped the fun at Mo, you are sorely mistaken! We had some dear friends with Oh Honey! Brews and Bakes bring their coffee trailer and sell their delicious coffee creations and homemade goods. Their cinnamon rolls are TO DIE FOR! Meanwhile, we even had a watercolor artist, McKenna Judd, live painting our building. She even let Ruth sit in her chair and advise on the true color of our front doors - LOL! We can’t wait to see the finished piece!
While all of this was going so wonderfully, it’s not a real party if you don’t have a couple of snafus the morning of! One of dad’s tools burst into flames in the back of his truck! AHH! And the food order for 150 was accidentally placed for 15! AHHHH! THEN, the umbrellas caught the wind and were flying all over the yard, breaking left and right! AHHHHHH!
Let’s Start the party!
And finally, guests started arriving!!! Y’alllll. Stop!!!!! We were BLOWN AWAY at the turn out!! Over 200 people attended. We celebrated with our clients, subcontractors, old church friends, school teachers, neighbors, city leaders, and new friends. I felt so grateful and so humbled. I kept saying like, “Y’all!!! Y’all are busy people! You really didn’t even have to come!!!” It just was so generous and so thoughtful and so special that people took time out of their lives to drop by to celebrate!
We even reserved some time for a proper ribbon cutting with the Mayor and some members of City Council! Sarah said some beautiful words, we had huge scissors, and a beautiful gold ribbon - perfect for commemorating the opening of our beloved store!
The Highlights
We had SO MUCH FUN!!! Some highlights for me? Mo, the white buffalo, in general. When my plate got caught in a gust of wind and my sandwich smashed Oscar (our plumber) in the face. HAHA! Visiting with everyone!!! Gabbing with the mayor of Southlake! He’s such a nice man! At one point the mayor told dad how proud he was of the building and so pleased with how it turned out. Dad cried! Another favorite that I always love is when clients and subs and shoppers from our work sphere get to meet more members of our family! Many of our party guests got to meet our mom, Karla, and our middle sister, Rachel, and that always feels like such a blessing!
I laugh that the day felt like my wedding day, but it really did! So celebratory! So joyful! All kindness and love and fun!!!
The final toast
When everything settled down and our visitors had gone, we worked hard to break down the party, settle everything back into the warehouse and clean up the property.
Now, this is one of my favorite moments of any big party, actually. It’s when all your closest folks, the folks who co-hosted the party with you - close friends, family, etc. - sit around with a cold beer, rehashing and debriefing about the party! So that’s just what we did! Our team sat around in my office, squeezing onto the sofa and the floor, in pure exhaustion, telling stories of the day. We hit the highs and the lows, we toasted with champagne, we ate the last of the brownies. There’s not much that can bond a team like throwing a party together!
In the end, we’re just so thankful to our community for taking the time to celebrate with us! We’re so thankful to Southlake for helping us follow our dreams! And we’re so so so thankful for our team at Lambert Home who work so so unbelievably hard every day to create beauty and joy!!!
Now, come shop with us!!! Our doors are open, folks!!
