Holiday Styling Guides - 2023

When Sarah first showed me these Style Guides I basically GASPED!!! Not even kidding! She showed me one and I gasped, then the next and I squealed, then the next and I fainted! I absolutely LOVE this time of year and I’m obsessed with these 4 holiday trends!! First let’s talk about how to get each look, then let’s talk about what I’m doing in my own home this holiday season! (Lol I’m also going to let you in on an inside joke here, I told Sarah I’m going to come up with my own names to name these gorgeous style guides, so lol, buckle up! Here we go!!”

“Rich Miss Judy in Connecticut” — This gorge trend is sending me fully this year. (So much so that IT’S THE ONE I’M IMPLEMENTING!!!!!! we’ll talk more later!) It’s clean. It’s timeless. It’s natural but classy. Not so natural as to have leaves on the table (looking at you Crunchy Ralph) but dried citrus and lots of natural garland is a must. I love this style personally because it gives a feeling of EASE in a time of year that is often a bit hurried for many people. If Miss Judy were super rich and lived in Connecticut, this would be her Christmas decor, hands down.

“Crunchy Ralph-y Holiday”  — Like, my friends Ricky and Mikenna will definitely subscribe to this style guide, hands down! The idea that a pine cone could be on the table, next to your mashed potatoes! Hallelujah! No but really, study after study has been released in the past few years that our culture’s disconnect to nature has caused an abundance of health and mental health issues, and I love this style’s approach to reconnecting with the peace and comfort we can experience in nature. Including florals, berries, pine cones, even acorns, mixed with a nice rustic flannel, and elevated glassware is sure to be a beautiful and lovely time.

“Joyful Explosion” — This absolutely delightful trend has me squealing! Like, it would be a MISTAKEEEEE for this girl I know who just adopted 4 beautiful babies to not do this trend at her house!!! *ahem!*** This style offers abundant color, home-made items, and has a little bit more of a crafty-childlike feel. I believe in my heart that this style represents how a child sees Christmas, and I just want to celebrate that! The non-traditional color-scheme finds balance when joined with traditional items like Spode Christmas dishes and vintage Tinsel!

“It’s giving tried-and-true” — This is for the mom’s out there. You know who you are! (Looking at you Karla!) It’s Christmas for heaven’s sake! Can’t we just do red and green! Yes girl yes! You can and you should, and let’s!! Red and Green will ALWAYS be in for Christmas, always! We love the fresh take on this classic by adding stripes, bits of pink, and polished metallics.

I am excited to announce that I’m actually using the blue velvet/dried citrus trend this year, or “Rich miss Judy in Connecticut!”!!! Not even joking!

I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year and while I’m traditionally so focused on the food that I don’t even consider the decor, but this is our first year with our 4 new little babies!!!! It feels like the most special year of our lives, and I truly don’t know that I’ve ever been so abundantly thankful in my whole life! Therefore, we’re doing it up!! Here’s how I’m implementing this amazing style guide this year!

I’m creating a seamless transition from thanksgiving to Christmas this year, styling similarly for both holidays implementing dusty blue velvet ribbon, ivory taper candles on candle stick holders, and lots of simple greenery.

Me and Ruth worked together last Sunday to create all of our dried citrus and it really turned out beautiful!!! All you do is slice your citrus as thin as you can and place it flat on a non-stick baking sheet (or a baking sheet with a silpat or parchment paper) and bake on convection 175 for like….ever….and I do mean…FOREVER!!!!! The grapefruit took like 8 hours, the lemons and oranges between 5-6. And our whole home smelled citrusy-fresh all day! I’m really excited about these because they are just SOOOOO beautiful, organic, traditional!

Which trend are you loving?!
